#LANDSCAPING AND URBAN PLANNING PROJECTS

Hager Partner and nps tchoban voss collaborate to design a green-roofed rec center near Berlin

A recreation design at Nauen that developed a multi-functional complex for the community's activities.

The city swimming baths at Nauen, a town just west of Berlin, will be transformed by a new green-roofed entrance building and recreation park designed by nps tchoban voss in collaboration with Landscape Architects Hager Partner. The prize-winning design comprised of two flowing structures joined by an insulated living roof will update the old baths and allow year-round use of the site. Keep reading after the jump to check out the plans.

Two subtle green-tinted buildings will form the entrance to the complex, while the prefab wood-frame facade of insulated timber panels house a refectory, information center, wellness area, ticketing, and changing rooms. A new habitat provided by a green roof links the two buildings with each other and the surrounding park. Triple-glazed panels with external solar shades bring in plenty of natural daylight and may be adjusted for changing conditions.

Landscape improvements provide a separate environment from the outdoor pool, encouraging use of the space through the winter months as a communal park. The centre will offer the public activities to encourage community participation. A multipurpose playing field offers easy accessible ping-pong tables, a playground, volleyball, and mini-golf.
