‘Living Tomorrow’ project builds community amongst suburban sprawl
Wohnen Morgen (Living Tomorrow) is a project about community, identity and sustainability.
Through this commission for a block in the rezoned St Georges Rd, Thornbury, Australia, Steffen Welsch Architects proposed this concept to transform a standard suburban block with a single dwelling into ten 9-star homes. The concept aims to increase urban density, housing quality, diversity and accessibility, while fostering community. The design is not just about the streetscape (the public face), but takes to heart its role to create a positive impact in the urban fabric for not only its inhabitants, but for all adjacent neighbors. The project was honored in the Sustainability Unbuilt category of the 2015 Architeam Awards.
