DesignatedCW revives dilapidated yokohama house into two modern flats

A dilapidated home in yokohama, japan became the setting of a remodel and division by designatedCW.

The dwelling, which was originally used as a single family home, was stripped of its run-down facilities and surfaces. in doing so, the native structure was re-exposed, creating additional space that had been lost due to poor interior design.

Vertical spaces were opened as much as possible, creating airy expanses that helped provide enough ventilation and volume to create a sleeping loft. the home was then separated into two maisonettes, with floor spaces of 27m2 and 29m2 respectively, a size in much higher need and demand by tenants of modern japan. in addition to interior, designatedCW had the structure reinforced with state of the art earthquake stabilization fixtures and thermal installation throughout the entire home.
