PAPAGO GATEWAY CENTER
The nearby Papago Buttes, geological and important Native American landmarks, inspired the name -- and the stone cladding -- of a new world class, six-story research-and-office building in Tempe with an 933-car parking structure.
Oriented for optimum solar exposure with its long axis from east to west, the new mixed-use development captures scenic views of its namesake, Camelback Mountain and Tempe Town Lake.
This automated louver-screened edifice is not only dramatic but environmentally responsive. The floor plates will serve either research or office functions, lending flexibility and longevity for future tenants. Twin elevator entrances allow for better access for multiple tenants at opposite ends of the building. The work spaces serve either research or office functions, lending flexibility and longevity for tenants. This building achieved LEED Gold certification under the US Green Building Council LEED-CS pilot program.
