This Wood Pavilion Was Designed With References To Early Slavonic Aesthetics

Russian designer Vlad Kissel, has created a wood pavilion in Moscow, Russia, that has a drop like shape that references early Slavonic aesthetics.

Curved planters filled with ornamental grasses and flowers wrap around the outside of the podium at the base of the pavilion.

The exterior of the pavilion has a delicate pattern that’s made from CNC cut wood pieces that meet together to form the overall shape.

A section of the pavilion has been left open to act as a doorway to the interior.

Stepping inside and looking up, you can see that there’s an opening at the top, perfectly framing the sky above. The light that shines through the walls displays artistic shadows on the podium.

Additional CNC cut wood pieces are used to interlock the frame of the pavilion together. Each wood piece is numbered making it easier to build.

In the middle of the podium and surrounded by the pavilion is a cut out section that’s filled with plants.
