World's tallest and longest glass bridge announced for China's Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

Hunan Province in China has commissioned Israeli-based Haim Dotan to design a completely transparent bridge across the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.

The structure would span 370 meters (1,214 feet) and hold up to 800 people at once - making it the world's longest and tallest glass bridge. This extreme bridge aspires to become a "Wonder of the World" and continues the Chinese trend of delivering unique architecture that tests the limits of human ingenuity.

The idea of actually building the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon bridge may look unrealistic, but the structure received funding at the Chinese Tourism investment meeting at the Central China Expo in 2012 and is expected to open next year.

Erected at a height of 400 meters (1,312 feet) above the canyon floor, the structure will provide visitors with a proper adrenaline boost looking through the bridge floor and, as if that wasn’t not thrilling enough, it will also feature bungee jumping. This is expected to break the height record for bungee jumps and beat the current highest commercial bungee of 233 meters (764 feet) on the Macau Tower.
