Element 1 is a modern prefab island retreat that frames views of Puget Sound

We’ve featured many fantastic prefab homes by Method Homes over the years and their recently completed Element 1 model does not fail to impress.

The compact one-bedroom unit was designed by architect Chris Pardo, who clad the elegant structure with Corten steel and generous floor-to-ceiling glazing. The light-filled Element 1 prefab was selected as a modern island retreat for a challenging building site with Puget Sound views on Marrowstone Island, Washington.

Method Home’s Element 1 was the perfect fit for Karen Kiest, a landscape architect who purchased a plot of land on Marrowstone Island that had stunning views but lacked buildable space. Kiest determined that offsite prefabrication was one of the best ways to mitigate the site constraints and reached out to Method Homes for prefab modular options. After consulting with Pardo, she chose the 825-square-foot Element 1 model for its beautiful design, generous glazing, and high ceilings.

In addition to its large window walls that frame coastal views of Puget Sound, the modern prefab is clad in clear cedar siding and Corten steel-standing seem siding. An L-shaped deck wraps around the home to offer indoor-outdoor living. The interior is finished with FSC-certified bamboo flooring and custom Maple cabinetry.
