An Art Collector’s Apartment in São Paulo, Brazil

Many of us may have preconceptions about how an Art Collector’s apartment would look and how they would choose to display art in their personal space.

Whilst this apartment is home to some exquisite art, it is also a functional family residence where the boundaries between living and exhibiting blend smoothly and in a subtle way. Opening upon its central axis, the Finnish Pinus wooden door ushers us into the primary living space where fresh white walls adorned by paintings and sculptures enhance the gallery concept. Blue limestone floors resemble a typical gallery industrial floor laid generously throughout providing a uniform feel whilst the colour scheme remains honest and unified. Whilst the concept of the spinning doors continues, rotating bookcases create rooms by dividing open spaces and providing privacy whenever needed. Carefully selected furniture and accessories are there to be used whilst at the same time are a part of the collection. The bedrooms carry the same concept, with art pieces adorning walls and surfaces as well as some pieces utilizing the needs of the apartment’s dwellers and guests. From playful and feminine to slick masculine chic, different characters are offered by each of the bathrooms with artworks providing both function and form.

What is really wonderful about this apartment is the lack of intimidation at being surrounded by such a collection. Providing aesthetics and function, these pieces sit comfortably together in a home environment.
