Bahçeköy House

The family house in Bahçeköy Sarıyer is planned to create clear, bright and spacious living spaces as possible. From the outside, the relatively hard, non-transparent first sense becomes as clear, airy and outward-facing as possible on the garden ceiling. The interiors are open to the garden with large windows and terraces.

In design, both the interior and the exterior, the natural results of the materials used are protected as much as possible. The exterior is entirely handwork mosaic. In the garden walls and details of the joinery, the last texture and color of the last naturally used steel was used. Interior materials such as wood and marble are applied in accordance with the characteristics of the spaces. All fixed furniture are special production. They are mostly black and combinations of natural polished oak and pastel toned lacquer. Metal details are mostly black, and partially copper and satine metal colors. The interior is designed as a purposeful, simple, no-frills background. Details and various works of art were used to add color to the atmosphere.

As an architectural element, the staircase is designed to create a sculptural effect and connects three living quarters. The staircase structure is entirely covered with a wooden cover that gives it a high temperature.

In the garden, beside the swimming pool, a pool house with a lounge, kitchen, half open recreation area, gym, dressing room, showers and toilets is designed. The sliding windows in the ceiling height allow the living areas to enjoy full natural light and to be integrated with the pool terrace when opened.

The house is designed for a young family of four, located in Bahcekoy, Istanbul. The main motive of our concept is to accommodate the open spaces for the guests and the interiors with large windows and terraces.

As viewed from the outside, the house provides a strong and secure sense of concrete-stone with a mixed material of facade, The large windows are located on the ground floor with a sliding door that opens onto the pool side terrace and is filled with living and dining space with natural light.

When designing, both for inside and outside, the natural outcomes of the materials have been preserved as much as possible. Corten steel garden wall, handmade concrete-stone mixed facade, natural looking wood and marble have been created in the warm and 'living' atmosphere both in and out side. All the furniture has been designed as a built-in interior. It's mostly a combination of black and natural oiled oak, pastel tones of lacquered MDFs. The metal elements are mostly choosen in black and especially copper & satine metal tones. The atmosphere has been created principally in a plain way; the details, furniture, and some art pieces bring the color accents to the interior.

As an architectural element, a sculptural staircase has been designed, linking the three levels and coated with natural oiled oak which gives warm atmosphere to the volume. Hand rail has been varnished in black, creating a linear trace for the distinct perception of the form.

In the garden, next to the swimming pool, a poolhouse has been designed, accommodates a living room, kitchenette, outdoor lounge, gym, changing room and toilet. On the front side Wall height sliding Windows allows natural light to fill the inner space, and creates an open space next to the pool on demand.
