RMJM architects releases vision for riverside masterplan in china
international practice RMJM has recently visualized their masterplan for the design of a headquarters building, exhibition center and park in the riverside location of the doumen district in china.
the vast scheme hopes to work with the natural beauty offered in the location- uniting contemporary living with the scenic landscape. the proposal is shaped by the rivers that weave through the district where simultaneously, the design is meant to compliment the water-orientated nature of doumen.
along with a mixed-use residential and commercial office space, there will also be an exhibition space with a civic park. one of the key constructions of the project is the exhibition center that sits by the riverbank. the fluid design characterized by the dramtic, sloped roof influenced by the local chinese culture and developed to harmonize with the backdrop of jianfeng mountain. encouraging the public to enjoy the rich outdoors, the park is divided into four functional areas: the sports area, wetlands, the public cultural square and terrain garden. by combining the natural and urban interfaces, as well as instilling an innovative and site-specific design, the masterplan will vibrantly highlight the cosmopolitan city’s rapid growth and identify.
