#PUBLIC ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS

vora uses landscape to aid patients' minds in doctor surgery clinic

the ‘doctor surgery’ is a small clinic integrated into the fabric of a small mountain village in spain.

the project, by vora, is an exploration in medical architecture that places focus not on the building, but rather what you can see from it. through large windows, patients are able to rely on the mountains, trees, and natural landscape to feel safe, secure, and calm during whatever endeavors they may face.

from the small access, the building stands only a single story. however, past the railing is a steep face that hides the clinic’s second story. the building is considered public, further cemented in the idea by use of symmetry and it’s contained, neutral color palette. access is provided by double doors that lead into the lobby/ waiting room. here, a large window allows views to the calm, always stable mountains, just in case the wait turns into an anxious affair.
