#RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS

DEDE

A couple and their two sons are bitten by the bike virus and both own 2 bikes.

Unfortunately their house in the city Centre of Antwerp doesn’t have a garage to store them. Until recently the entrance and hallway where filled with bikes, biking gear and spare parts. Standard storing systems didn’t fulfill the requirements needed, there was an urge to do something more drastic.

The owners agreed on a more drastic solution since biking was a way of life in their family. An 1000 kilo’s over dimensioned floating cupboard in the living room formed the solution. The closet contains 9 bikes with spare wheels. The shelves underneath stores the necessary tools, helmets and gear. This cupboard doesn’t only provides a functional solution, it stands symbol for the freedom of the passionate cyclist. It places the bicycle on a bandstand and brings an honest ode to the inhabitants passion for design, creativity self-expression and sporty lifestyle.
