Randy Angell Designs together with builder Pool Environments, have completed a modern swimming pool with a sunken lounge, a cantilevered deck, and floating stepper pads.
Adjacent to the swimming pool area is the motor court entry, that’s clad with Hartstone steppers and lined with synthetic turf joints.
From this viewpoint, the rear side of the spa wall is visible. Fifteen custom stainless steel scuppers designed by Randy Angell Designs, pour out from above an acrylic covered window, and into a hidden gutter system in the rocky media below. The acrylic panel allows you to see through the opening, but also protects the fire from the windy courtyard breezeway. On the other side of the wall, is a raised perimeter overflow spa, designed so that water flows up and over 3 sides of the spa. The automated, linear, gas-burning firepit has been built into the opening of the wall, while floating stepper pads stretch across the front of the spa, allowing easy walking access from one side to the other.
At one end of the swimming pool is an all-tile wet deck that’s furnished with two chaise-style lounge chairs.
Behind the wetdeck, there’s a sunken fire pit and conversation area at water level, that’s surrounded by a shallow water fountain.
The perimeter overflow design allows the pool water to be at the same level as the sunken firepit, with it flowing right up to the edge before dropping down into the narrow seam and being captured by the hidden gutter system underneath.Above the sunken lounge is a painted steel structure with a movable semi-shade awning, allowing for adjustable coverage.
All of the white stone work throughout the project is a custom concrete product made by “Hartstone”.Adjacent to the sunken lounge is the pool cabana, that features a covered sitting and dining area.
The pool also has a cantilevered wood deck that’s flanked by two automated gas-burning fire bowls, While underneath there is a hidden bench-seating area screened by a water curtain.
