GASTHAUS AM BRUNNEN
Gasthaus am Brunnen, Valendas, Switzerland. Gion A. Caminada, a Surselva-based architect and professor at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, agreed to work on the refurbishment and rebuilding of the “Engihuus” in Valendas, converting it into the “Gasthaus zum Brunnen”.
In November 2012 he wrote: “The Engihuus with its components from various eras, expanded by a contemporary one, aims to make the space suitable for both festive and casual gatherings, large and small events, and for planned or chance meetings. The Gasthaus avoids the more forbidding aspects of meeting rooms. Its rooms feature a different type of character altogether. They are more open, seeking to welcome people even if no scheduled event is on the agenda. A carefully furnished and centrally located guest house can extend its impact even in the most remote hamlet and provide it with the openness of a meeting-place.”
