Escape Traveler is a tiny cabin on wheels that can be moved anywhere

Wish you could set off on your epic trip across America without giving up on the daily comforts? You’ll love the Escape Traveler, a fully outfitted home-on-the-go that can be moved just about anywhere like an RV.

Despite its compact and portable size, the energy-efficient tiny home feels spacious, comes with a whole range of full-sized appliances, and can even sleep up to six.

If the Escape Traveler looks familiar, it’s because the tiny mobile home came from the same minds—Kelly Davis and Dan George Dobrowolski—that created the Escape Cabin. Like its eco-friendly predecessor, the Escape Traveler boasts an energy-efficient design and is handcrafted with all natural recycled materials. Despite the structure’s estimated weight of 10,000 to 13,000 pounds, the design team says most standard pick-up trucks can move the Traveler.

The Traveler will come in two sizes: the 269-square-foot standard, measuring 28 feet in length, 8.5 feet in width, and 13.5 feet in height; and the 344-square-foot XL, that’s 30 feet in length (or 34 feet including the hitch), 8.5 feet in width, and 12.5 feet in height. Even if you don’t splurge on the XL, the 269-square-foot standard size is roomy enough to comfortably accommodate six. The handsome cabin-like facade is clad in cedar lap siding punctuated by a glass entry door and low-e windows that flood the interior with natural light. 100% recycled and eco-certified Dakota planking line the interior, which is insulated by closed cell foam made from recycled products.

The interior’s ground floor is split into three main areas: the bathroom with on-demand hot water and washer/dryer; a beautiful kitchen in the middle with a full-sized range, fridge with freezer, and oven; and a living room with a fireplace and big-screen TV. The living room’s couch can flip down to form a large daybed in less than a minute to accommodate extra guests. The main bedroom with a queen-sized bed is located on the upper sleeping loft, while a second loft located on the opposite end of the home serves as attic space or as another sleeping area. The XL version includes a large bedroom with queen-sized bed on the ground floor.

Living large in the Escape Traveler’s small but ultraportable digs won’t come cheap. The standard model starts at $65,600, and comes fully loaded at $82,400. A limited time pre-order sale knocks the prices down to $58,800 and $71,900, respectively.
