Modern open-plan home in Jackson Hole reduces construction waste with six prefab units
Chris Pardo Design: Elemental Architecture teamed up with Method Homes to make a sprawling prefab home in breathtaking Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Set in the footprint of the property’s former home, the modern rectilinear house is made up of six prefabricated modules. Spanning 2,788 square feet, the open-plan home gives its residents panoramic views of the beautiful Jackson Hole landscape.
The original bungalow on the property was decaying and outdated, so the family decided to tear it down and make way for a modern home. The only restrictions given to Chris Pardo Design was to design a new home on the same footprint, in order to not obstruct the already established views.
The architects used the space to expand upwards into two stories, which contain four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Floor to ceiling windows on both floors flood the interior with light, but also make the interior feel larger by giving an intimate view of the thickly planted trees, mountainscapes and existing farm buildings on the property (which are framed by the massive windows.) The two car garage is topped with a massive roof deck that gives 360 views of the family’s land, and extends the living space.
In order to remain in the original footprint, the architects also extended the home downward, adding a 1,186 square foot finished basement onto the house. In the subterranean level, the living space includes a bedroom, wine room, home theater and rec room.
With the prefabricated modules from Method Homes, Pardo was able to efficiently design a beautiful modern home with little construction waste.
