New Zealand beach house transforms into an open-aired paradise

Taking a summer vacation soon, but not sure whether to head to the beach or the mountains? The Castle Rock Beach House in Auckland, New Zealand has you covered - or, uncovered, if you prefer.

Herbst Architects have taken the “kiwi bach,” or holiday beach house, to the next level with this design, which is built into the mountainside near the beach, and can be transformed into an open air sanctuary.

The beach house is separated into two levels, the “living pavilion” consisting of a kitchen, lounge, and two covered decks. As you can see, each of the sections can be customized to your preferred level of openness and airiness. Its beachside location gives a stunning view of the water and the loveliest ocean breeze. Yet, the home is also built right into the hillside, connecting its visitors with nature and providing a spectacular view.

The interior is gracefully designed, featuring stained wood and plenty of windows. Its spacious kitchen is perfect for dinner parties and delightful summer nights. If anyone needed an extra reason to book a trip to New Zealand, the Castle Rock Beach House is calling your name.
