'Valley residential bridge' fills the gap among cliffs in Canada

EMBEDDED DEEP INTO THE CLIFF

Amirhossein Nourbakhsh envisions ‘valley residential bridge’ filling the gap among the rocky cliffs in British Columbia, Canada. In an attempt to build with the least damage to the surrounding nature, the architects formed the main spaces under the bridge, taking advantage of the available area in between the rocks.

PASSAGE OF THE TWO SIDES

Amirhossein Nourbakhsh divided the structure into three main segments according to the needs of the users. On the top level, the bridge takes shape as a flat rectangular surface that connects both sides. The second segment serves as a sportive space, located at a higher level right down of the bridge, where two triangular-shaped balconies hover above the canyon, providing sweeping views across the ocean. The third one functions as the residential space that spans till the water level, leaving out a small space letting boats pass under the building.
