snøhetta's flexible seating system invites people to interact
SUMMIT IS A SOFT HILLSIDE-LIKE FURNITURE
snøhetta designed a series of seating systems that can be easily adjusted to the need of each situation, by simply playing with multi-shaped blocks. ‘summit’ acts as a smooth transition from the isolated home office environment into an intimate flexible space, where users can interact or simply rest.
‘summit’ is modular furniture that can be assembled by smaller blocks, inviting users to a playful interior landscape. taking shape as a cushioned indoor mountain range, it spans with a gentle elevation on multiple levels, while curves and corners welcome different body positions.
SNØHETTA ENCOURAGES NEW WAYS OF COMING TOGETHER
the designers gave a simple form to the furniture, so users can easily build a small staircase, a wavy ridge, or a curved elevation, depending on the selected environment and the need of each situation, whether it be a lecture, a meeting, or a momentary break. the furniture pieces are clad with a soft covering and are seamlessly connected promoting meaningful interactions.
serving as a tool to improve flexible and less-prescribed sharing, the furniture has the ability to continuously redefine the space. the upholstery, stitching, and cushioning are created with detail, for comfy exploration; whether sitting, standing, lying down, or simply walking past, the ‘summit’ intends to create freedom of use and bringing people together.
‘summit’ is a result of a behavioral-led design forum on theme sharing, organized by +halle in 2019.
