#LANDSCAPING AND URBAN PLANNING PROJECTS

town hall in Landsberg am Lech

The historical town hall in Landsberg am Lech was built by Dominikus Zimmermann in 1765

A small invited competition was initiated to look for a solution to extend the listed building. The original

council chamber had become too small, and the old building lacked access for disabled people and a second escaperoute. Our design was accepted. We moved the tourist office from the centre of

the old building into the northern vaults and were therefore able to reopen theancient archway to the rear courtyard.

We planned the new council chamber on the first floor and kept the ground floor as clear as possible. A new entrance hall and dining area have created a new attractive link in the historical old town

and revitalised derelict land. Totally enveloped with a light mesh of copper, the extension harmonises well with the original Baroque building. Filtered light helps to convey a dignified atmosphere in the council chamber.
