felipe assadi frames views of the coastal landscape with concrete casa bahia azul

blending with its rocky landscape, ‘casa bahia azul’ by architect felipe assadi lies on the slopes near the coastal city of los vilos in chile.

following the sloping gradient of the typography, the private home uses concrete as its primary material. formed in the shape of a cuboid, the scheme features a distinctive exterior façade where it has been purposely punctured by different sized rectangular and square openings. presented as a second façade, this wall becomes a partially sheltered barrier while the geometrical apertures frame the adjacent bay and landscape.

along with a partially submerged basement level, the interior spaces continue with the use of concrete on the walls and ceilings. contemporary decorated, the spacious living areas are light filled due to the number of purposely positioned windows all around the home. greenery has also been planted around in nooks and bigger spaces to form small unexpected gardens.
