#RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS

studio odile decq positions artists' residency overlooking french valley

the angular artists residency by paris-based studio odile decq is based on the lower side of the plateau at tour-ange’s park in grenoble, france.

distinctively emerging from the treetops and contrasting against its traditional neighbors, the structure responds to its steep and narrow topography, where the main aim was to successfully frame optimum views of the scenic valley.

the result of the complex site created the tower-like form spanning over three levels that captures a different angle of the french landscape. monolithic in form, the sculptural entity is made completely of timber, with a natural finish on the inside and black asphalt on the outside. internally, the space is minimalistic and uses OSB cladding on the walls and floors. the multiple and different sized openings allow natural light to illuminate the entire interior. moreover, all the windows have been installed with black shutters with the same finish and at night, creates a mysterious, completely black volume.
