wes anderson envisions eccentric film set for bar luce at fondazione prada

known for the distinctive, visual style seen consistently in his film-making, american director wes anderson has shown his flare for interior design in fondazione prada‘s ‘bar luce’ in milan.

the result is reminiscent of the city itself, but also classic italian neorealist films of the 1950s and 60s.

the interiors have been adorned floor-to-ceiling with details, that together, they translate the director’s whimsical, and kitch style into a playful setting. sherbet colored formica furniture is arranged around the casual setting, and complemented with a retro juke box and steve zissou pinball machine. meanwhile, visual focus has been placed on the wood-paneled and patterned wallpaper, which subtly leads the eye up to the arched ceiling, replicating the symbolic galleria vittorio emanuele’s roof in milan. by imagining a place he would comfortably write a movie and spend his ‘non-fictional afternoons in’, wes anderson has realized a space where the public can experience one of his film sets, while enjoying a milanese spritz.
