Miring
‘Miring’ installation is an interpretation of the reading of Jakarta, anyone who lives in Jakarta must be aware of what ‘miring’ is, leaning next to or unbalanced, if it's too oblique to fall
In reading the context of the National Gallery site of formal and sterile context, this work shows buildings that lined bamboo-lined shore up a box which nearly crashed because of the leaning position right in front of this building.
While the public is allowed to enjoy the journey to understand Jakarta, through a path in the form of a winding ramp, this reflects the reality of Jakarta, almost every time we go out we do not feel one hundred percent safe, because of the bumpy sidewalks, worst drainage system, which hasseveral holes that are not closed, the road The main jammed for hours, so we need to move to use a motorcycle taxi (an Ojek), if we were without a helmet is not necessarily safe. This work is an interpretation of the theme of Jakarta Biennale # 14 2011 is Violence & Resistance, Jakarta Maximum City.
Maximum because the density is not controlled, then the cities of Jakarta on the edge of the supporting continuous sacrificed. This work is also featured Asian paradox between economic stability but also at the same mental unpreparedness of the population. Jakarta consists of several densest kampongs that run concurrent with the advancement of the private sector, not accompanied by offsetting public area. The composition of several boxes of this pavilion is set on the axis opposite the Gallery building structures that have been established.
It is a symbol of resistance as well as balance. Leaning one box above the height of 7 meters is in it played a violent film works by Regina Jose, a Guatemalans artist, entitled "El Peso de La Sangre" with a strong complement of this work as a symbol or self-mirror of Jakarta, which already ‘Miring’. Jakarta is dangerous, while Jakarta is not safe. In recent months we have witnessed several people committed suicide in the malls, or rape news on public transportation. The phenomenon of this horror in front of us everyday, it is ‘Miring’!
