peter pichler architecture chosen to renovate italian hotel in the dolomites

milan-based architecture and design firm peter pichler architecture has been selected to transform an existing hotel into a five star resort, set amid the dolomite mountains.

the project is situated in europe’s largest alpine meadow, a paradise for winter sports, hiking, and exploring nature. the scheme will involve the restructuring of individual rooms, and the addition of luxury suites at roof level — overlooking the picturesque scenery below. a new reception and lounge will also be added.

the hotel’s most notable aspect is a rooftop spa with panoramic views of the adjacent dolomites. elevations are transparent, light, and open, offering impressive vistas of the landscape from each room. the structure is topped with a tilted roof designed to assimilate with the local context of the village where the hotel is situated.
