VELTA Offices

We have designed an office space for VELTA Group of Companies, a recruitment company located in Belgrade, Serbia. The task was to create a comfortable office interior while the client welcomed any ideas and gave us complete freedom of concept selection, but within the limits of certain budget.

The premises was shell and core, had an open plan and high ceilings of 4.5m. These features inspired the design concept. The finishing of the open areas is done along the horizontal window impost - to a height of 2.5 meters; the entire space above is left almost untouched: we left the concrete ceiling with floor beams, the walls without finishing and the utility systems in their natural state. Thus we have managed to harmonize the space as well as significantly reduce the customer's expenses.

The key materials of the project are glass, concrete, metallized surfaces and mosaic. The color palette is a mix of complex pastel colors - mint, mustard, lilac and caramel - within the color block technique and the checked pattern for some rooms.

Full glazing on only one side of the elongated rectangular space, in turn, influenced the layout: we created the open space for 28 workplaces in areas with natural lighting, and the meeting rooms, cloakroom, WC, and storage in darker areas. The company's previous office had a cubicle system, and employees had their doubts at the thought of moving to open space. It was important for us to show that an open-plan office can be comfortable due to proper zoning and quality modern finishing materials.

A large meeting room for 10 people is separated from the work area with a two-layer glass partition and an acoustic portier. Ribbon windows allow natural light to enter the room. The combination of many textures in lilac shades - the upholstery fabric of the bouclé chairs, the flocked floor covering, the corduroy curtain, the deep matte wall paint - create a detailed interior in the color block technique.

In the small meeting room the depth of the interior is achieved by the combination of an accent brick wall with a smooth paint job, a carpet in a complex caramel shade and vintage furniture made of natural wood.

Operating within a small budget, we managed to mix furniture from local manufacturers and big brands: ICF, vintage Cesca chairs by Marcel Breuer, Flos Chiara desk lamp by Mario Bellini, portable Artemide Come Together lamp. The basis of the project is standard furniture solutions, but we have complicated the design with an unusual metallic finish. It is supported by screens of decorative chains, aluminum plinth around the perimeter of the space, metal blinds, fittings, and electric fixtures. Spheres of various diameters and cylindrical suspended lights are used here for the lighting.

The client gave us complete freedom of expression and choice of concept, so the project was a joy to work on, and we have managed to create an unconventional interior of a modern office in our perception.
