A renovated flat in Lisbon, with clean lines and Klein blue details

DC.AD has transformed a 100 square metre dwelling in the Ajuda neighbourhood by focusing on details with vibrant tones, simple geometries and interconnected spaces inviting to a new sociability.

In renovating a 100 sqm flat in the Ajuda district for a young family, DC.AD studio has set the project priority on a large living area, made of common spaces without divisions facilitating sociability and exchange.

The TM8 apartment, previously subdivided into several rooms, has therefore been given by the architects a large, bright and versatile space that also discreetly shows some elements from the past – the white pre-existing beams, for instance.

Clear geometries and lines are the protagonists of the project: a pre-existing arch divides the total white interior, emphasising its simplicity by emerging in the space with its vibrant Klein blue curve. Overall, formal cleanliness and aesthetic sobriety stand out, overturned sometimes by intense colours such as blue, green and orange.

The three rooms in the sleeping area are preserved, while a balcony that connects this spaces on the outside has been transformed into an additional living room, characterised by tiles in bright shades that reflect the sunlight, providing a warm and protective environment.
