Arquitectonica chosen ahead of BIG and fuksas for mixed-use scheme in luxembourg

The government of luxembourg has announced that arquitectonica has been chosen to complete a major mixed-use project in luxembourg city.

The miami-based firm won the bid for the complex in a competition that drew entries from notable names such as bjarke ingels group, fuksas and neutelings riedijk architects.

the 40,000 square meter project will anchor the development of the new region of kirchberg, a district that houses the majority of the city’s european institutions. the 27-storey complex will be the country’s tallest, comprising a mix of retail, residential and office programs. the design concept includes two green roofs that fold organically to connect the twin residential towers with the adjacent office structure. as well as creating a new public plaza and tram station, the scheme will connect the adjacent european court of justice with the philharmonie luxembourg.
