#LANDSCAPING AND URBAN PLANNING PROJECTS

melike altınışık architects presents antalya kepez landmark proposal

melike altınışık architects presents the ‘kepez landmark’ proposal, which received an honorable mention in the now closed antalya kepez landmark competition.

the concept carries the spirit of the city, creating an identity without the confines of contemporary urban concerns. rather, it adapts itself to local topography, taking into consideration native, natural, and cultural features of the setting.

the ‘kepez landmark’ is uniquely mediterranean, and features natural vegetation, climate systems, and flora that match surrounding areas. its design was conceived in order to provide maximum results, with minimal damage to the undeveloped land — almost the entire project sits upon land already used on site. the landmark is located at the peak of the plot, and is directed towards the city center. the directionality is emphasized by a panoramic bridge, allowing views not only towards the metro area, but mount mazı as well.

organization is according to the development plan provided by the municipality. information given states that the site is going to, eventually, be surrounded by residential and commercial structures. furthermore, the city’s center is going to slowly move closer to the plot. main design decisions take future changes into account, and explore the possibilities that the constraints allow. in addition to the landmark, altınışık and team created a series of panoramic terraces with cafes and restaurants, sports facilities, an amphitheater, and an observation bridge that splits the land in two.
