Rome Ephemeral Boutique

Just steps away from its newly opened boutique on the Piazza di Spagna in Rome, CHANEL is opening an ephemeral boutique at the location of its former Via del Babuino boutique.

Here the House unveils a unique concept inspired by a theme so dear to Gabrielle Chanel: the masculine-feminine.

In a beautiful building of traditional Roman architecture, two entrances in its facade enable a glimpse at the world of fashion on one side, and on the other the world of fragrance and beauty.

Inside, the white floors and ceilings broken up with oak, terrazzo and concrete modules set a scene that’s understated, raw and unisex. Continuing along the same lines, the wireframe furniture in black and white metal foils the classic codes of geometry, playing with all sorts of parallelepipeds and with 3D perspective shapes without a single right angle. The walls with vegetal motifs drawn in crayon on a black or white background explode with green shades here and bright pink shades there.

The first space is devoted to Ready-to-Wear, handbags, accessories and shoes but also to watches and includes the new CHANEL Boyfriend watch whose lines are resolutely unisex. At the back, a second space is dedicated to sport where the sportswear creations of the House can be discovered.

As a link between two worlds, a space with a minimalist décor leads to an area dedicated to fragrance and beauty, set off with a fresco in a pink vegetal print. Here one discovers the world of beauty according to CHANEL: a selection of fragrances for men and women, skincare products as well as make-up.

Rome is well known for its magnificent gardens, its sunshine and its warm breezes best enjoyed in the shade of ancestral trees. A beautiful Roman courtyard is tucked behind the boutique. Surrounded by walls in shades of orange, visitors are welcomed around a fountain and a hundred-year old wisteria to enjoy refreshments or simply to take time out.
