VINO VERITAS OSLO BY MASQUESPACIO

A restaurant that subtly mixes Scandinavian and Spanish influences

Vino Veritas is an ecological restaurant in Oslo, Norway, that serves up Spanish tapas and organic wine. The restaurant is an extension of the ecological winery Cortijo El Cura that originated twenty years ago in the La Alpajurra region of Andalusia, Spain. With its deep Spanish roots, it was only logical to call upon Spanish design Studio Masquespacio to craft a restaurant interior that blends the best of Scandinavian tradition with Spanish culture.

White-painted wooden walls and ceilings and solid oak floors give a nod to the Scandinavian aesthetic, and the sparse minimalism is accented with traditional Andalusian balcony railings, clay tiles, esparto blinds and woven baskets that are reminiscent of Spain. Most of the decoration and textiles were handmade by traditional craftsmen.

Green is another principle theme. Baskets and boxes cover the walls, filled with leafy plants. The restaurant’s chairs and tables, themselves a signature of Scandinavian simplicity, are dressed in emerald green and highlights of green can be spotted in patterned textiles that adorn the space. Natural wood table tops and earthy tones complement the green and remind the visitor of the restaurant’s ecological, artisan motto.
