ROCKWELL GROUP’S NEUEHOUSE

A new shared work space concept for entrepreneurs in creative industries

For New York City’s NeueHouse, David Rockwell, founder and president of Rockwell Group , wanted to design a new kind of collective office for small organizations and entrepreneurs. What he created is a creative community space for working, meeting and mingling that draws professionals from the worlds of art, design, fashion, cinema and more.

NeueHouse functions with monthly memberships that begin at $450 and range from flexible use for ‘solopreneurs’ to fixed workstations and private offices. Drawing upon his extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Rockwell merges retro furnishings with a contemporary industrial structure, artfully carving out small, casual meeting areas rather than concentrating on an intimidating open space.

Using urban planning as the basis for the layout, the space marries public and private, planned and unplanned, with the goal of encouraging spontaneous interaction. It also provides a level of flexibility for users and can be transformed and adapted to user needs. Check out the video to see the office in action.
